Interacting localized waves for the regularized long wave equation via a Galerkin spectral method

چکیده
We develop a Fourier–Galerkin spectral technique for computing the solutions of type of interacting localized waves. To this end, a special complete orthonormal system of functions in L2(−∞,∞) is used and a time-stepping algorithm implementing the spectral method is developed. The rate of convergence of the coefficients is shown to be exponential. We consider the regularized long wave equation (RLWE) which is not fully integrable. We demonstrate the stability of the algorithm and find numerically the threshold for the existence of such interactions. We also calculate the phase shifts of the interactions and compare them to the finite-difference solution. © 2005 IMACS. Published by Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Optimization of Solution Regularized Long-wave Equation by Using Modified Variational Iteration Method
In this paper, a regularized long-wave equation (RLWE) is solved by using the Adomian's decomposition method (ADM) , modified Adomian's decomposition method (MADM), variational iteration method (VIM), modified variational iteration method (MVIM) and homotopy analysis method (HAM). The approximate solution of this equation is calculated in the form of series which its components are computed by ...

متن کاملError Analysis of a Spectral Projection of the Regularized Benjamin–ono Equation
The regularized Benjamin–Ono equation appears in the modeling of long-crested interfacial waves in two-fluid systems. For this equation, Fourier–Galerkin and collocation semi-discretizations are proved to be spectrally convergent. A new exact solution is found and used for the experimental validation of the numerical algorithm. The scheme is then used to study the interaction of two solitary wa...
متن کاملGalerkin method for the numerical solution of the RLW equation using quadratic B-splines
The regularized long wave equation (RLW) is solved numerically by using the quintic B-spline Galerkin finite element method. The same method is applied to the time-split RLW equation. Comparison is made with both analytical solutions and some previous results. Propagation of solitary waves, interaction of two solitons are studied. © 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. We develop a robust Christov–Galerkin spectral technique for computing interacting localized wave solutions of and fourth and sixth-order generalized wave equations. To this end, a special complete orthonormal system of functions in Lð 1;1Þ is used whose rate of convergence is shown to be exponential for the cases under consideration. For the time-stepping, an implicit algorithm is chosen which...
